
In the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, a fire claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman and left another person affected by smoke inhalation. The incident took place in an apartment on the fifth floor at Arenales street number 2200, and required the intervention of the City Firefighters to control the flames.
According to the police report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, a woman was found dead and another showed symptoms of smoke poisoning, so she was immediately taken to Fernández Hospital. The deceased victim, who was found unconscious in the kitchen, was declared dead by the SAME doctor.
During the rescue operation, firefighters managed to save the 80-year-old woman who is presumed to be the mother of the deceased and who showed signs of smoke poisoning. According to authorities, the fire originated from a mattress and a bed, which were consumed and self-extinguished.
The building manager reported that no flames were observed and that it was not necessary to evacuate other residents of the property due to the fire. The quick intervention of the firefighters allowed them to control the situation and prevent the flames from spreading to other areas of the building.
